Nonbinary Consulting Values

DEI and Beyond

For my clients to get the most out of our time together it's important you understand my values. These define what matters most to me, and the intention with which I approach my work. My hope is that this transparency will help you decide early on if Nonbinary Consulting might be a good fit for your organization's needs.

Accessibility

"Disability justice is about justice for all people. It offers a better way forward, one which centers collective care and mutual aid, ensuring equitable access to all we need to experience and live in our joy, freedom, and humanity."
— Sandy Ho

A smiling person in a black shirt looks into the camera. They are standing on top of a mountain with a backpack on & their fluffly little tan dog on top of their bag.

Anti-Racism

“The beauty of anti-racism
is that you don’t have to pretend to be free of racism to be an anti-racist. Anti-racism is the commitment to fight racism wherever you find it, including in yourself.  And it’s the only way forward.”
— Ijeoma Oluo

Authenticity

“Our bodies are literally made from the earth beneath our feet here. Without being taught that connection, it can lead to just this feeling of being lost. When you feel lost within your own culture and feel ashamed to try and pursue it, it compounds that.”

— Geo Neptune

Bodily Autonomy

"It’s not just about fighting for access to safe abortions or fighting for access to trans comprehensive health care. What we actually need is a new imagining of what it means to be a woman, a man or a person in contemporary world."

— Alok Vaid-Menon

A smiling person with a beard & backpack is out of focus offering their hand to their rock climing partner.

Compassion

“Actually, your soul and mine are the same. We appear and disappear with each other.”

— Rumi

Learning

"Don’t be an expert: Let go of thinking you are right. Step in to greater wonder, openness, and vulnerability."

— Marc Lesser

Loving Accountability

"The task of resisting our own oppression does not relieve us of the responsibility of acknowledging our complicity in the oppression of others."

— Beverly Daniel Tatum, PhD

Two adults & two children are bundled up around a campfire in a snowy evening pine forest.

Respect

"The moment we choose to love we begin to move against domination, against oppression. The moment we choose to love we begin to move towards freedom, to act in ways that liberate ourselves and others."

Trauma Centered

"There's really no such thing as the 'voiceless.' There are only the deliberately silenced, or the preferably unheard."

— Arundhati Roy

Trust

"If you have come here to help me, you are wasting your time. But if you have come because your liberation is bound up with mine, then let us work together."

— Aboriginal activists group, Queensland, Australia, 1970s, including Lilla Watson
